Yokogawa to Provide Energy Management System for Australia's Yuri Green Hydrogen Project

Introduction

Yokogawa Electric Corporation, through its Australian subsidiary, has secured an order from Monford Group to supply an energy management system (EMS) for the Yuri Green Hydrogen Project. This initiative is set to become a major player in Australia’s renewable energy sector.

Project Overview

The Yuri Project, located in Pilbara, Western Australia, is a significant green hydrogen production facility. Managed by Yuri Operations Pty Ltd—a joint venture between ENGIE Renewables Australia and Mitsui & Co., Ltd.—the project involves constructing an 18 MW solar power plant, an 8 MW battery energy storage system (BESS), and a 10 MW electrolyzer. The facility will produce 640 tons of green hydrogen annually using carbon-free solar energy.

Yokogawa's Role

Yokogawa Electric’s Australian branch will deliver the EMS to manage the solar power plant, BESS, and electrolyzer. Developed by Yokogawa’s PXiSE Energy Solutions, the EMS will integrate with a comprehensive control system (ICS) that focuses on collaborative information server solutions. Yokogawa will also provide the ICS as part of a separate contract. This integration will ensure the efficient, autonomous management of renewable energy production, tailored to the ammonia plant’s needs.

Technological Excellence

PXiSE’s grid control solutions have been praised for their performance in the Horizon Power project in Western Australia. This successful deployment in Onslow led to plans for 34 additional microgrids. Yokogawa's technical excellence center in Perth will support the Yuri Project with advanced engineering services and solutions.
